Kuala Lumpur Sentral is being developed by Kuala Lumpur Sentral Sdn Bhd, a consortium comprising Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB - 64.38%), Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (26%) and Syarikat Pembinaan Redzai (9.62%). Kuala Lumpur Sentral has been designed on a City-within-a-City concept, providing a perfect ‘Live, Work & Play’ environment.

Formerly a marshalling yard for Malaysia’s national rail operator, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB), the emergence of Kuala Lumpur Sentral began when the Government awarded the privatization of Stesen Sentral to Kuala Lumpur Sentral Sdn Bhd, a consortium led by MRCB, on June 27, 1994.

A plan was developed to create a more efficient state-of-the-art transportation hub and to improve the traveling lifestyle of the fast-growing urban population and enhance the public transport in Kuala Lumpur through an integrated rail network.

A concession was then signed on August 18, 1997, whereby Kuala Lumpur Sentral Sdn Bhd was tasked to build and surrender Stesen Sentral to the Government, in exchange for development rights over the surrounding 72-acre freehold commercial land.
